Steel Balls

Even though they are a very simple thing, steel balls are an important part of many applications. Some of these may be very clear, but others are not so much. Regardless, it is imperative that every major industry knows the background of these steel balls. They can then use this knowledge to buy the best ones for whatever industrial applications they may need.

These steel balls come in a great selection. The chrome ones are very popular and is widely used in many industrial uses. Sometimes, they are used as a bearing. These bearings can then be used in airplane or auto operation; other uses may not be so obvious. A hospital bed uses the chrome balls to start movement. Imagine how difficult it would be to manually crank the bed up and down instead of having a steel ball to help with the movement of the bed and patient up and down.


Think about size and quality of these chrome steel balls before deciding which ones are best for your company. The sizes go anywhere from 1/16th of an inch up to 3 inches, and the quality likewise has various measurements. Grade 10 is the highest quality, but if the steel is not being eroded by the usage, then you might be able to go lower. You will just have to probably make some samples first before you decide which quality level to use in your application.





Another type are the stainless steel balls. They are more hardy, and will not erode when up against corrosive surfaces. They will end up costing you many however. If you must use harmful chemicals in the application, then the cost will be worth it for these balls. Power steering which has to use hydraulic fluid is an example of the balls being used in this type of situation. We would all be worse off without our power steering such as is the case in older model cars.

For other applications, you can use either kind. The holistic health business can use either chrome or steel to make boading balls. Some might like to use chrome since it is much shinier if they want the ball to look more silver in color. Others may not care since they will paint the ball.


The steel ball can be used for purely artistic purposes. The industries are intrigued by the shape of the ball. The color may not matter depending on the use. If you are making toy cars, you may want stainless steel or chrome, but if you are making balance balls, you might not care about the color.
